Playing Catch Up!

Big Girl- With all the craziness going on this month I didn't have a lot of time to blog about all that has happened! First of all Kaylie turned 8 months old! She is growing up so fast and doing so many new things. She is growing like a weed and is about 29 inches long and 19 lbs. She has the longest arms and legs and we have no idea where she is getting all this height from but we love it!
Favorite things-She loves to take baths in her new tub but hates them without it! She loves to lay back and just lounge in the water playing with her toys! She gets that from her mom! She loves to pull out all of her toys and goes around playing with each one (or should I say she puts each one in her mouth then moves on to the next one) Most recently she loves to sleep with her "softie" blankets. You give it to her and she just buries her face in it and takes a nap! She is also the happiest girl ever. I took her with me to the dentist today and she sat right in her chair and played with her toys. Everyone says what a great baby she is and that's totally true. (Although she definitely has her sassy, whiny moments but she saves those for mommy and daddy) Miss Independent- She also surprised me and started to hold her own bottle! :( this makes me happy- yeah I don't have to sit and do it for her but it also makes me sad- I don't get to sit and do it for her anymore! She is getting all the more independent!
She also can grab her own little treats and put them in her mouth all by herself! She also started crawling- well...more like army crawling but put the remote out and she zooms right to it! I wonder if she will ever get on her knees or if she will army crawl the whole time. Although I don't expect her to crawl for very long cause she is already pulling herself up on things and loves standing up. Oh and don't forget the tooth that popped up this week! See I told you she is getting way too big! I had no clue that when she hit 8 months so much would happen. But one this is for sure, I am so glad to have had this time off work so that I could be around for it all. I truly love my job and that I can still be around for all of Kaylie's big moments!
5K-I ran my first 5k this month. And I didn't do too bad-well at least for my first one. I did it with my sister in law Andrea and our future sister in law Shanda (yep Devin proposed while we were at Bear Lake!) Afterwards I really wanted to do another one but now I'm like- what was I thinking? I hate running! LOL but this one will be fun and yes probably my last one for a while! I'm just excited to say I did one before I turned 30! Now I can say I accomplished something!

4th of July- We didn't really have any plans for the 4th but decided to head over to Derick's parents house and have a little BBQ (ok so we just got KFC but same thing right!) It's just also fun to hang out with family for holidays especially since mine isn't here. That's why holidays are hard for me. I miss my family especially when I know they are all at home together! Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the day!
She wouldn't sit still cause all she wanted was the grass! She loves it!
 Kaylie is daddy's buddy!
Kaylie and her cousins Kendall and Hailey

She loves being outside but slept through the fireworks!
MMM...she loved the cantalope and just wanted to bite into it!
Isn't she cute? Told you she is daddy's buddy.
Yes we are starting her out early to be a Utes fan! She loves her friend Swoop!

Schools Out!

School's out for Summer! Needless to say I am soooo excited! I finally get some time to spend with Kaylie and Derick! The last few weeks of school were crazy but we had lots of fun! Our second to last week of school we do camp week. Where we pretend that we have come to summer camp. This year I found some super cute camping projects on the blog thefirstgradeparade.blogspot.com and decided to change things up this year. This year our class mascot was the porcupines. We read some cute books about them and the kids had to write how they would hug a porcupine. This one says, "I would hug a porcupine by putting plastic on it." So cute.
These were out cute campers in a sleeping bag. They had a poem that they had to fill in the blanks with verbs and nouns, etc. They turned out cute too!
I loved these cute skunks and the stinky skunk facts! This stinky fact says, " A skunk can spray you in the eye and it stings it and hurts for a long time." HAHA love it!
We also tie dye t-shirts every year and take a "hike" to the park! I love the way that my blue shirts turned out this year. I am sad to see my class go this year. They were such a good class. Now I have to get in the mindset for little kindergarteners to come to me! Yikes! :) Maybe I'll enjoy my summer first and then worry about that!

Swimming time!

Kaylie is now 7 months old!

For her seven month birthday I took Kaylie over to the pool so I thought I would take pictures of her in her cute swimmy! She was so excited to go...can you tell? LOL She is now about 18 pounds and 27 1/2 inches long! She is getting so big and doing so much! Most of her clothes are 6-9 months but she can still fit in some 3 month clothes! Her pants are just more of capris now!

Kaylie practicing her swimming! This is exactly what she did in the pool. She would get her bum so high and froggy kick so fast! She loved being in the water and didn't want to get out! I had to go get her a floaty so that she can sit in it and kick!
She is now a sitter! She sits up so good! She loves to sit and look around. I often come out and she is just staring up at the TV. She loves to watch Doc McStuffins and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Sometimes when she babbles it sounds like she is singing along with the show!

She also loves to play with toys. When something is out of her reach she will practically bend over in half. Definitely my little gymnast! She's not crawling just yet but she rolls everywhere and can move around in a circle. but not movement forward or backward yet!

Kaylie is also my good eater! She loves all kinds of foods now. She eats solids better than the bottle. Her favorites so far are chicken and rice, vegetables, and bananas. She also started drinking out of a sippy cup. She holds it pretty good but is still practicing getting it into her mouth. She loves when it has water in it! At restaurants she loves to drink water out of mommy's straw!
Last month we got to see my mom again for Mothers Day! It was a weekend full of family and we loved it! I'm glad my mom was able to see Kaylie so much these past few months cause I'm not sure when we will be able to get out to California for a visit.
A few weeks ago Derick finished out his 3rd year of teaching! YEAH! So while I am working for a few more weeks, Derick is now Mr. Mom! He gets to hang out with Kaylie all day and she loves it! She loves her buddy-Daddy!  Derick is quickly learning how to feed her and how cranky she gets without a nap! I'm glad that he gets to have this time with her but I am sooo jealous when I have to get up and go to work! Luckily I only have 2 more weeks and then it's summer time! I can't wait to spend time with my two favorite people!

6 Months Already

I can't believe that 6 months ago I gave birth to this amazing little girl! She is one of the best things that has happened to us! She is growing like a weed and has such a funny personality. The picture with the bear is the only one I could get without her attacking it!
Here are her 6 month stats:
Height: 26.5 inches-77th percentile
Weight: 17 lbs-70th percentile
Head: 44cm- 84th percentile
Clothes size: some 3-6 months but mostly 6 months
(But her pants are all getting too short!)

She did so good with her 6 month shots. She absolutely loves the one that you drink and didn't even cry for the first one. Then when the second one came she cried for a few seconds and was done! I guess they probably feel a lot better than those IVs. I also can't believe how tall she is. I can already mark her height on the growth chart!

She is able to do so much now! She loves to bounce in her exersaucer and bounces even when she isn't in that thing now! Everyone says she is so squirmy! She loves to reach for things with both hands now including her doll (which she loves to eat!) and anyone's face! Then she just slobbers all over you! I also love that she doesn't need a pacifier! She is so calm and hardly cries. I'm glad she's finally feeling better. I still think she has a little allergies but we'll see as she gets older!

She also loves to roll now. But only when she wants to. The other day I had some plastic bags by the door and she rolled 4 or 5 times so she could get over to them. Which then she got her arm and leg stuck in the handles! Silly girl! She will also roll all the way to me if I sit anywhere on the floor! She is also becoming a great sitter! She still will flop once in a while!

She has also recently found her toes! She loves to grab them and eat them! She likes to sit in her swing and wiggle all the way down so she can either grab her toes or touch the ground! She also smiles all the time! And gabs and gabs! Sometimes it sounds like she is singing with all the gabbing she does! Fingers crossed she says mama first! LOL

She is so good at getting her head up now so she is doing much better eating solids. She loves oatmeal, peaches, green beans, rice cereal with apples, bananas, and mangoes. We have recently switched to formula and she is such a little grazer. She sure does like to take her time eating a bottle sometimes and then other times she will gobble it down in no time! She is also such a good sleeper! She still sleeps through the night and goes down with no problems. By 8:00 she knows it's bedtime and zonks right out!  I know I only seem to blog when Kaylie gets a month older but there is always so much going on that it's hard to find the time. Next weekend we are headed to Manti for our annual Memorial Day camping trip. I can't wait to see how Kaylie does. This will be a good test for the bow hunt I think! I am also excited to take her swimming. Our pool opens that weekend too and think she will just love the water! So many fun things coming up!

5 months now!

Kaylie turned 5 months on Easter! I can't believe how big she is getting. Everytime someone sees her they can't believe how big she is getting! She definitely doesn't look like a newborn anymore! She is now 16 pounds (50-75th percentile) and 27 inches long (95th percentile!) She is my tall little girl.

She can now roll from back to front like a champ and can do front to back but only when she wants to! She can sit for a few seconds before flopping over and is getting so much better at lifting her head!

She loves when we stand her up so a friend of ours let us borrow their exersaucer and she loves it. She sits and talks nonstop. She doesn't quite bounce and at first she wouldn't put her feet down unless she had socks on! Not she is getting the hang of it!

She also loves to suck on everything and anything that comes near her mouth! This includes her new doll, hands, toys, blankets, anything! She also is getting good at eating solid foods. She loves bananas and pears and still takes her bottle so good!

She still fits into some 3 month clothes but mostly wears 3-6 months because she is so tall and lean! She does through sleepers like crazy because she can't stretch her long legs out! Where did this height come from?

Here are a few of my favorite pictures of her over the past month!

What does Easter and Arizona have in common?

So the answer to the title question is....family! I am so glad that my track break and Derick's Spring Break came around Easter time so that we could head down to my sister Terra's house in Arizona. It was Kaylie's first trip, first Easter, and her first time seeing a lot of my family!

It was also the first time we have all been together in a long time! Kadin's blessing was so awesome. My brother Donny blessed the baby and Kadin looked adorable in his blessing outfit. I was so excited that I got his blanket done in time and it matched his outfit perfectly!I'm so glad we got to see these guys!

Kaylie had lots of fun with all of her aunts and uncles and cousin! Easter was lots of fun and the Easter Bunny spoiled Kaylie! She got to dye eggs, hunt for eggs, and got lots of stuff in her Easter basket

Sarah and Miranda dyeing easter eggs! Love these girls! Sarah kept coming up to Kaylie and saying how pretty she was! She also loved to hold her! It's fun to have Kaylie's big cousins around!

Of course Kaylie really had no clue what was going on for Easter but mommy and daddy did! She looks super happy to be finding eggs right?

But she did love all the eggs in her basket and her new dolly! I have so many other pictures but of course blogger is being dumb so I'll post more later!

4 Months Already!

Kaylie turned 4 months old today. Too bad she spent the day on oxygen and at the doctors office but luckily mom got to spend the day with her! She is getting so big and everyone mistakes her for a 6-9 month old little girl! She is now 14 lbs 9 oz which is the 72%percentile and wears mostly 3-6 month clothes. Except for her sleepers. She is quickly outgrowing those because she is so long! She measured at 26 1/4 inches long! Thank goodness Andrea sent us a bunch of clothes for her! That is the 97%percentile! She is so tall! We all wonder where she is getting it from! Derick says she will definitely be a basketball player! Her head is about 43 cm which is the 91% percentile. See...big girl!

She is still on breastmilk bottles. Thank goodness my milk supply has held up, especially with being back at work. It's a pain to pump but I'm so glad that I'm doing it and she's getting milk instead of formula. This weekend we are going to start giving her rice cereal and see how she does with that.

She's been doing a lot better at not spitting up when she eats and still sleeps through the night! Thank goodness! It really amazes me that she can sleep that long. I put her down around 9pm and she doesn't wake up until around 7am! Yes we are lucky with this girl! She does so good at church and everyone thinks she is adorable! There were a lot of babies born around her birthday so I can't wait until she is big enough to play with all the kids. She talks all the time to Derick and loves to tell him about her day when we get home! She loves her daddy time! She also loves the TV she just sits and watches sports with Derick. If I try to change her she wiggles all around until she can see the TV. She loves cartoons and would lay so still in her crib at the hospital and watch them!

She still doesn't roll all the way over. She gets to her side and is content to just lay there. Lazy little girl! :) She also puts everything in her mouth! Fingers, blankets, toys, everything. She also licks anything around. She will lick the couch, the carpet, fuzzy blankets, and yes even mom and dad!

She also loves to kick and hates having things on her feet. That includes socks and blankets. She even kick you if you are sitting close enough to touch her feet! (yes she is doing this to my left arm right now!) oh and she is really good at blowing bubbles! She does really good at the sitters and the boys all love her. They all call her baby K. She is such a happy baby and I can't believe she is already 4 months. Next month we are going to Arizona to see Terra's new little guy Kadin Riley who came on the 2nd. I am so excited to see everyone and have everyone finally meet Kaylie.

I realized that all my post are usually about Kaylie but that is pretty much all that is going on with Derick and I. We are both still working. My next track break is April 4th and I can't wait to be home with Kaylie again. We had our friends Ben and Misty come up from down South with there little girl Aspen and son Hunter. It was fun to have them stay with us and to see the kids. We also went up to the Hunting Expo but decided not to go inside this year, especially since Kaylie wasn't quite cooperating that day! Other than Kaylie getting sick, it's been pretty quiet around here!
